Samsung P9 and P7 Portable SSDs, First Unveiled at Gamescom, To Launch in September

Samsung Electronics is officially launching the P9 and P7 in September as the first products in its next-generation portable SSD lineup. The two products were first unveiled in late August during its “The Next Era of Portable SSD” launch session at Gamescom 2026 in Cologne, Germany.

The P9 and P7 feature a USB4 interface, with [1]sequential read speeds of up to 4,000 MB/s and [2]capacities of up to 8TB. As the first products in Samsung’s next-generation portable SSD lineup, they focus on three key messages: “Elite Performance for All,” “Smarter Capacity,” and “Freedom to Move,” combining fast performance, high-capacity storage and portability to enhance the portable SSD user experience.

Following their debut at Gamescom, P9 and P7 will soon be available to consumers with their official launch in September. Starting with these two products, Samsung will continue to expand its next-generation portable SSD lineup to support a wider range of storage needs and use cases.
