<p><strong>형광체</strong><br>[Phosphor]</p>



<p>LED칩에서 나온 빛의 색깔을 변화시키는 데에 사용되는 물질.</p>



<p>LED칩은 구성하고 있는 화합물의 에너지 준위 차이에 따라 특정 파장(색)의 빛을 발하기 때문에 원하는 빛의 색을 얻기 위해서는 형광체가 필요하다. 예를 들어, TV나 컴퓨터 모니터 등의 브라운관 내벽에는 적색, 녹색, 청색 등 빛의 3원색으로 구성된 형광체를 도포하며, 조명용 백색 LED는 파란색 빛을 발하는 LED칩에 노란색 형광체를 사용하여 백색을 구현한다. </p>
