<p><a href="https://news.samsungsemiconductor.com/kr/%eb%b0%98%eb%8f%84%ec%b2%b4-%ec%9a%a9%ec%96%b4-%ec%82%ac%ec%a0%84-%eb%b0%98%eb%8f%84%ec%b2%b4/">반도체</a> 업계에서는 생산라인 환경 관리를 위해 생산라인의 청정도를 &#8216;클래스(Class)&#8217;라는 단위로 구분해 관리한다. 클래스(Class) 뒤에는 숫자를 표기해 청정 환경 관리 정도를 등급으로 나타낸다. 일반적으로 이 숫자는 가로와 세로, 높이가 각 1피트(ft)인 정육면체 공간당 포함하고 있는 0.5㎛ 크기 이상의 먼지 개수를 뜻한다.</p>



<p>&#8216;클래스10&#8217;은 1입방피트(ft3) 내에 0.5㎛ 이상 크기의 먼지가 10개 이하로 존재하는 청결 정도를 말한다. 예를 들어 &#8216;클래스1&#8217;은 가로/세로/높이가 각각 1피트(ft)인 정육면체 내에 사람 머리카락 직경의 1/1000 크기 정도의 먼지 하나가 존재하는 것으로 비유할 수 있다.</p>
